Application Requirements
- High School students in grades 10 through 12 or College students residing within L.A. County and Orange County.
- Applicants must submit evidence of their participation in community service or charity work (i.e. photos, videos, news reports or audio recordings).
- The community service or charity work must have occurred in the United States (except in special circumstances) and within the last three academic years.
- Applicants who did not receive a scholarship may reapply, however each applicant may only receive one scholarship during their lifetime.
Required Documents for Application
- Completion and submission of the application form provided by the host organization.
- Copy of valid student ID.
- Submit one color self-portrait photo, taken in last 6 months. Use a clear image of your face.
- At least one letter of recommendation from a non-relative.
- A personal statement of no more than 600 words about yourself, your experience in public service and your views on public service contributions. Special considerations will be given for statements written in Chinese.
- Photos, videos, news reports, or audio recordings related to public service activities (including acts of courage, helping others, or social justice).
- Proof of participation or organization of public service activities (if any).
- Other activities such as the volunteering at non-profit community service organizations signed by an organization representative using the organization's letterhead.
Award quota, award amount and award form
- Scholarships and certificates will be awarded to the students.
- The amount of the award is limited to US$2,000 per student and may be increased if there are special circumstances.
- Letters of recommendation will be provided to assist the recipients in obtaining workplace internship opportunities.
- Award quota: Up to five students per year will be awarded based on the performance of the applicant and the amount of the award fund. If there are no qualified students, the number of awards may be reduced.
Judging Process
- The Evaluation Committee will review all application forms and materials.
- The Evaluation Committee announces the names of the recipients and the results of the evaluation.
- The Evaluation Committee will hold an award ceremony for the winning students and present them with the prize money and certificates.
Important Notes
- Application materials received after the application deadline will not be accepted.
- Application materials are not returnable.
- The final interpretation of the award is the responsibility of the Scholarship Evaluation Committee.
- Winning students must be present for the ceremony.
